As long as US remains a super military power, I don't think any other country could surpass its economy strength.

I hate this technology as the critics said:

"Many people consider pets to be part of our families," Marcy Darnovsky, associate director of the Oakland-based Center for Genetics and Society, said in a statement. "If we get used to cute cloned puppies, will some people expect cute cloned babies next?"

However, it will become a commercial trend in the developed countries where people take pets as own children.

A Canadian blogger covered how he liked Bosintang, a bowl of Korea’s infamous dog stew: http://www.walrusmagazine.com/blogs/2...

well ... he claimed: although dog meat still has devotees in the millions, most of the younger Koreans I’ve spoken to about it think I’m a deviant for eating it, just the same as I’m sure many of you do. He actually like eating them ><

I love dogs as my friends; however the bill is completely driven by the local culture. The position of animals groups is not strong enough if the new bill will protect living standard of dogs as other livestock (eg. cows, chickens).

It just passed the most damaging location: SF. It should be fairly safe for the rest of the relay.

it will not wide spread in China as the majority may not be too concerned about Tibet. however, it's definitely lots of international protests as it is a a golden time to press on the communist gov. during the Olympics period.

i agree .. the authority can always track down hackers ... seems there were always some trace they can found in the digital world. So such a bill is totally unnecessary.

That's very interesting. Celebrities attract eyeballs back to MLB after a long season break. It's a pretty good idea. Which teams may do the same? NY Mets likely follows the same trick as his neighbor.

for reaching the scale of super power, its people will demand a greater need of foreign information. so the gov is forced to give up the control of the internet.

    according to this news: http://www.csmonitor.com/2008/0205/p0...

Polar bear populations in fact may be larger than they were decades ago. By some estimates there were as few as 5,000 polar bears in the 1950s when hunting for sport and profit was far less regulated. Today, scientists believe there are 20,000 to 25,000 polar bears, though this is still about 60 percent below historic levels. And many scientists say the loss of Arctic sea ice, which bears rely on for hunting and denning, is accelerating to record levels due to global warming. As a result, US Geological Survey scientists recently warned that projected changes in sea-ice conditions could lead to the loss of about two-thirds of the world's polar bear population by midcentury.

Critics see this as a conflict of interest, especially because the decision on listing polar bears under the ESA by the Interior Department's Fish & Wildlife Service was delayed until the lease sale offering was to be made this week.

IMO, I don't have much hope in money-hungry US gov. Just hope the law will respond properly for the poor bears.
