honestly, I dont think google will enter this market directly as a player... they surely tend to be like the UN for some segments (actually for those segments that they feel thay have the power to rule). Or maybe like NATO ;) when android phones are mainstream, google wont need to launch a socnet app themselves - they will just pick the cream of other's labour and investment :)

then who do you think can do? I forgot to mention myblolog by the way - they misht not be the dominator but they are definetely the sexiest web-socnet-gone-mobile ever... have you heard what they are doing around lifestreaming and reality mining in general? f$%^ing beautiful I say :)

where noone will dominate because the market itself is in seed stage - mig33 seems to be abit promising, but one shouldnt forget facebook and myspace... actually in mobile it will be all about platforms used by the networks, platforms like fireeagle for lacating, google or yahoo maps fpr maps etc. those platfomrs actually will represent sort of meta-networks IMHO

if gphone is just a third-party (most likely HTC) handset prototype with android OS on board - then it will be Q1 for sure. If we take it literally - it's never, as they clearly stated. And if we take it as ready-to-market handset - it's after Q1 2008

I think apple could announce it in barcelona in february but the real action will definetely come much later than that

I don't get the mechanism - what defines whether a prediction is fulfilled or not? This is sooo questionable - i can fight to death and prove you that opensocial is a lousy attempt to catch up with facebook... I'm not a FB fan, but opensocial "openness" is all about applications - it's just that you develop one app and it's portable for all the networks. that's it! it eoesnt rule anything but the minds of easy-believers who eat any piece of PR text thrown to them.

on one side - google's android, on the other - facebook's advertising industry dialogue. considering google being a spider (media wise too), it's much more of a fertile soil for rumors.
