    McCain on the Issues

Abortion: Opposes abortion rights except in cases of rape, incest or to protect the life of the mother.

Immigration: Co-sponsored Bush-backed immigration reform legislation, which would have increased funding and improved border security technology, improved enforcement of existing laws, and provided a legal path to citizenship for some illegal immigrants. Voted to authorize construction of a 700-mile fence along the U.S.-Mexican border.

Iraq: Voted for use of military force in Iraq. Supported Bush veto of war spending bill that would have withdrawn most U.S. troops by March 2008. Was an early proponent of sending additional American troops to Iraq.

Same-sex marriage: Supports definition of marriage as a union between a man and a woman, but opposes a constitutional amendment banning same sex-marriage. Says individual states should decide the issue. Says a federal marriage ban might be appropriate if courts overturned state marriage laws. Supports legal benefits for same-sex partners.

Social Security: Supports Bush plan to allow workers to divert some Social Security payroll taxes to private retirement accounts.

Taxes: Voted against 2001 and 2003 Bush tax cut laws, but later voted in favor of extending tax cuts through 2010.

Iraq: Opposed use of military force in Iraq. Voted for war spending bill that would have withdrawn most U.S. troops by March 2008. Supports phased redeployment of U.S. troops. Opposed Bush's plan to send additional troops to Iraq. Had once called for troop withdrawal to begin by the end of 2006.

Social Security: Opposes Bush plan allowing workers to divert some Social Security payroll taxes into private retirement accounts.

Taxes: Opposed extending 2003 Bush tax cut law through 2010. Supports eliminating marriage penalty and extending child tax credit. Supports scaling back capital gains and dividends tax cuts and re-examining tax benefits for the top one percent of earners.

The core competency of a social network is not the API, but its market share and hosting servers.

The primary mission is anticipated to last 90 sols (Martian days) – just over 92 Earth days. Researchers are hoping that the lander will survive into the Martian winter so that it can witness polar ice developing at the spacecraft's exploration area. As much as three feet of solid carbon dioxide ice could appear in the area. Even if it does survive partway into the winter, it is very unlikely that the lander will function throughout the entire winter due to the intense cold.

It comes to a defining moment these 2 weeks - whether the market will retreat horribly or continue to rise. IMO, news may stir up more ups and downs, but the overall trend is down toward below 12,500.

Commented on:   Cuba: no more Castro by 2009?
Analysts are divided on what kind of leader Raul Castro might make. They suspect that as long as Fidel is alive he will have a strong influence on government. It has been suggested that Raul would make a more radical leader than his brother. Fidel said in 1997: "Behind me are others more radical than I." But others suggest he would help the country make the transition to a "softer", more market-friendly form of communism.

He has raised expectations of economic reforms in Cuba, saying that it required "structural changes", and acknowledging that many people could not get by on government-decreed wages.

No matter what, the recent Cuba has widely open to foreign goods - it helps Castro to gain popularity among the merchants and the young generations.

It would be great if it can be applied to those with breast removal surgery. It really helps those with breast cancer. But I am not sure whether breast is more complicated than finger.

Craigslist was recently reported to be on track to pull in revenue of $85-100 million this year – a fraction of what it could conceivably be making if it rolled out paid listings in more markets.

Perhaps it was the time that eBay wanted a bigger control over the business direction. Craigslist reacted by diluting the ownership of eBay. Well, what a flight between big shark and smart fish.

Although eBay is a much bigger company, the position of Craigslist is held strong. Here is how Craigslist responsed:

"Coming from a company that views Craigslist as a prime competitor, filing suit without so much as mentioning these assertions to us beforehand seems unethical, and suggests ulterior motives," the Craigslist post read. "EBay has absolutely no reason to feel threatened - unless a hostile takeover of Craigslist, or the sale of EBay's stake in Craigslist to an unfriendly party, is their ultimate goal."
