Our Canadian team has done their best. Let's still appreciate their dedication to honor the country.

I agree with black-shoulder. In addition, when the economy slows and Canadians start grumbling for unemployment, it will be unfavorable for Harper.

IMO, the credit crunch has spread to the entire world. People outside US will surely feel the slow down in Q4. There is no doubt that US is still leading the world economy. When she falls, the world falls as well. The falling oil price + high inflation + bad export will terribly threaten the Canadian economy in 2008-09.

I found more stat about the industry in 2007: http://www.everything-eli.com/inmylif...

    * 89% of porn is created in the U.S.
    * $2.84 billion in revenue was generated from U.S. porn sites in 2006
    * $89/second is spent on porn
    * 72% of porn viewers are men
    * 260 new porn sites go online daily

What a big business. Regarding the social impact, can we compare it against tobacco and gambling? Perhaps the government is addicted to the tax from the industries as well.

Commented on:   Will House pass Bush Spy Bill?
On July 10, President George W. Bush won final congressional approval on Wednesday of a bill granting liability protection to telecommunication companies that took part in the warrantless domestic spying program he began after the September 11 attacks. So spy bill will continue to live - American citizens, please smile !!

In fact the lawsuit drama is going on. Harper launched his $2.5-million lawsuit against the Liberal party last March, after Grit officials refused to apologize for accusations that the prime minister knew about a "Conservative bribery" attempt in the Cadman affair. In July, Harper adds $1 million to $2.5-million lawsuit against cash-strapped Liberals.

source: http://canadianpress.google.com/artic... - it is a pretty interesting news.

He is still in charge of Liberal. Well ... he suddenly swings the public attention to climate change and actively promotes his carbon-tax program. Will the new idea buy him more votes and support inside the party?

I don't understand why BC was motivated to move first in this issue. It is highly unfriendly to voters in the era of high energy cost. IMO, other provinces will observe for awhile how the carbon tax affects the emotions.

I hate all the hidden fees or government fees ... but doubt that will be abolished as the market seems OK with the fee.

wow .. your perspective of near future is very dark - quite different from the major media who is claiming that the recession might already be over.
