As you may know, NATO has been slowly extending eastward into many Eastern European countries. Former communist countries or countries with close ties with the former Soviet Union such as Croatia, have joined the NATO. The latest bids to join the "Western Power" include Ukraine and Georgia.
US President George W. Bush is currently on a tour in Eastern Europe, and is preaching for various NATO countries to welcome these former USSR states. Some are weary because of the potential backlash from Russia. With all this in mind, do you think these two nations would join NATO by the end of 2008?

Looking at recent history, NATO seems quite willing to grant membership to former communist states, so I think both countries will be allowed in.
It is fairly easy for Ukraine and Georgia to tell NATO: YES, I need your money and please come to my land. In contrast, EU requires the members to reach a mature level of economy system, which is hard to achieve by most East European countries. Joining NATO is the first step to join EU.
