What is ZiiTrend?
Would more Canadian aid workers be attacked by the Taliban?
black-shoulder ( Score Rank: #2 based on predictions in the last 30 days ) black-shoulder  |  was scored on 02-Oct-2008 (50 days ago)
Following what many feel to be a disgusting act of cowardice, the Talibans have issued an opened letter to Canadians, urging them to pressure the Canadian government into leaving Afghanistan, or there would be more insurgent attacks similar to the one that killed civilian aid workers.

Talibans killing civilians to warn countries to leave Afghanistan is nothing new. Earlier in the year, over twenty Korean missionary workers were kidnapped, and some of them were killed. This "successfully" caused the South Korean government to speed up its withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Canada may or may not follow suit... but the biggest concerns may be the wellbeing of the citizens in Afghanistan. Do you think more Canadian aid workers will be attacked by the Taliban before October 15? (end date subject to change)

I take a more pessimistic look at the situation. Looking at the recent brutalities that are occurring, I think the Tabibans are just going to attack any foreigners, no matter what nation, no matter what job, these people are doing in Afghanistan.

I am not fond of the US' tactics in their foreign policies (for the most part). However, the Talibans (which ironically were trained by the US army back in the day to resist then Communist USSR) are really taking warfare at a level that is unacceptable.
