Federal Green Party Leader Elizabeth May has demanded a spot on the federal election leaders' debate. Her demand is fueled by formerly independent MP Blair Wilson's decision to join the Green Party, making him the first MP the party has in the House of Commons.
Traditionally, the 2 debates (in French and English) feature the leaders of the Conservatives, the Liberals, the NDP, and the Bloc (even though they only have elected members in the province of Quebec). Five media networks, CBC, Radio-Canada, CTV, Global and TVA, form a consortium that holds the national debate. Small parties that do not have an elected member in the parliament are not invited traditionally, which includes the Green Party... But, with a MP in the parliament now (be that he was not voted in as a member of the Green Party), the consortium can no longer use the "no MP" rule to exclude Elizabeth May. So far, she is not included - but would she be at the end?

Along the same line (though I know it'd never happen), I don't know why the Bloc has to be included in the English debate either, as it is definitely a regional party whose policies are Quebec-oriented.
