Will YouTube announce an API for commercial use in 2008?
Homer ( Score Rank: User did not make predictions in the last 30 days ) Homer  |  closed on 01-Jan-2009 (324 days ago)
YouTube recently announced a video API which allows web applications to show YouTube videos without its GUI. But before you start building your web site around the API, you should check out its Terms of Use. It clearly stated that it is for non-commercial use only:

Do you think Google will changes its mind and announce an API or a data usage plan for commercial use?

not unless it figures out a way to put up an ad or other form of generating revenue from releasing such API.

This kind of API once released don't get changed very often. I say it won't happen in 2008 even if YouTube has the intention to release a commercial API.
