Grocery shopping can be tedious, but as with almost everything else under the sun, the web offers solutions to help alleviate that. Online grocery shopping got a shaky start during the first web bubble, but now it seems to be getting bigger and far more specialized.

Here are 50+ online grocers: http://mashable.com/2008/...

I know Safeway.com has the online buying option. Too bad safeway.ca doesn't have it. Because of the lack of availability in my city, my answer is no.

Buying fresh produce requires selecting something good out of a big patch of materials, some good and some bad. Among a case of tomatoes there will be ones that got crushed during shipping, are smaller, and the like.

For fresh produce, I'll say a definite "no" at this time. For non-perishable items though, I'm quite open to the concept, as long as I don't have to pay shipping and handling charges, or if I can place an order, and just pick my items up at a store.

Just learnt that online retail spending in the UK rose 35 per cent in 2007 in spite of an impending economic downturn. It must be suddenly more acceptable than ever before. What do you think?
