This prediction is purely for fun. Just want to see if you will get a Google Android phone if it comes out in 2008. By the way, it is very unlikely, it will come out by then. But still, it is still interesting to see if you will get one.

I tend to use mobile phones purely as an emergency contact method while travelling. Since my current phone is working fine, I won't be buying one this year.
However, I will be STRONGLY considering an Android phone in about 3-4 years from now, depending purely on cost and plan.

I think Android will just be another mobile platform. Nothing will be too special for Symbian or Windows Mobile to do.

If the Android phone runs on one of the major brand like Motorola. LG or Nokia, I think I will prefer this over other mobile OS.

These are the features I expect from Android, and hopefully that is what the platform can offer:
    - built-in GPS mapping app, plus real time internet connectivity for local information
    - web browser
    - tailored GMail, Calendar, Task Lists etc etc.
    - IM app, if possible GPS-based IM app
    - online video playback

And then I expect the carrier to offer a reasonable data plan that costs less than $20 per month.

Are there any ground-breaking features that the Android would have that would make the phone appealing to the general public? From the promotional point of view, the i-phone 3G appears more attractive.

The alienware android phone design looks so... childish. I guess the android platform is attracting other OEM to join the cell phone market. It is getting even more crowded now.

I still don't see what's the benefit of Android as a consumer product. Maybe as a software developer, I will be more interested in it.
