Koei corp. has "developed," from the ground up, a new game in the Dynasty Warriors series for the next generation game consoles (for those who do not know, DW is a series of very popular slash and kill game based on the Chinese novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms"). Dynasty Warriors 6 has awesome graphics, and a new "Renbu" system that allows a character to be built up as you play. However, it has also taken out some of the classic characters from the earlier games (e.g. Jiang Wei, Meng Huo, Zhu Rong just to name a few).
If you have a "next gen" console, is this one of the "slash and kill" game you would consider buying?

I have been buying DW games for the longest time, even though the gaming experience is fairly similar from one generation to another (e.g. DW4 Empires and DW5 Empires are basically identical games, just with the new DW5 characters added, and a few more useless strategies). That said, I'm very disappointed that a brand new game for the "next gen" consoles still cannot depart from the "box" Koei has created. The computer AI being able to adapt to landscapes and your fighting style sounds very smart, but I am 95% sure it will be nothing more than a gimmick.
That said, what I'm the most upset about is the deletion of some of my favourite characters (e.g. Jiang Wei, Meng Huo, Zhu Rong, Zuo Ci, Da Qiao, Xing Cai) and the really silly distortion of characters and their weapons (e.g. Lu Bu without his Sky-Scorcher, Ma Chao without his helmet, and Guan Yu without his green vest?!). Terrible.
Jiang Wei is gone?! Oh no. I love that guy with his long weapon. Yeah, I know it is a bit cowardice to use long weapons. I have to admit, it is addictive to kill hundreds of soldiers quickly like sliding tofu.
