Unfortunately this market will continue for quite some time, more like a recovery in three to four years

The recession will be ended by a sign of upward real estate market. As the US gov depreciated the currency and cut the rate, that helps keep the housing price stable and low - still not a upward sign.

We might see an upturn towards the end of the year if governments implement "rescue" policies, but the money lender's policy of high-risk, low-income loans still has a lot of fallout to go.

I think "recover" should be defined more quantitatively, say using the Shiller index. Thank you.

I was about the ask the same question too. I am new to Shiller index... what value of the index indicates a recovery? A link to the current Shiller Index would help too. Thanks ahead.

I am still waiting for buying opportunity. I am betting on 2009 summer. Definitely no recovery before that.

How do we define if the market is recovering? Hard to say without some hard numbers.

No, the real estate cycle has to be longer than that. I can see lots of buying opportunity towards the end of 2008.
