What is ZiiTrend?
Will the New Cuil Search Engline be more popular than Google in 2012?
humme ( Score Rank: #37 based on predictions in the last 30 days ) humme  |  closed on 28-Aug-2008 (40 days ago)
Cuil just went live yesterday. I know it sounds totally redundant to have another search engine on the Internet. But this one is a bit different from Google in which it returns result based on relevance rather than popularity. Try it yourself and see if you like it:
http://www.cuil.com

What Cuil does well is the speed and the large amount of result set in the result page. Here is the question, do you think Cuil.com will be more popular than Google in 2012?

I don't think so. I tried it out. It's not ready for international web search.

Yes, given a few years. Google looks invisible, but that's exactly it's problem - it isn't as dynamic anymore. It can't change without millions of people crying foul.

Cuil is actually pretty cool. Give it one more try and you will love it.

Cuil proved that its technology is not yet ready to be deployed globally. It will take a while before it can effectively compete with Google. Its interface and research methods are interesting though and might help in the future.

I will keep using Cuil for another week, and then decide if I should give it a better rating. For now, I think it is not that accurate.

If you just look at their first day launch, cuil wasn't that cool. They were down most of the time. But I think it is not fair to compare Cuil directly with Google. Well, nothing is fair in this world. I prefer to see them spending the $33mil more wisely. Instead of going head to head with Google, they should create a different searching experience, not necessary better.

impossible. i don't see how Cuil could make more news in the media. perhpas this is already their last shout for people to use it, or it can wait for some buyer.

I love the Cuil user interface. Very responsive.

I am not sure the Internet needs yet another search engine. The popularity of a search engine in the long run is all about results. It takes time to see if Cuil is technologically more advanced than Google pagerank.

Cuil is pretty good already. But going against the Search Engine giant which core competency is search engine... I don't think so.
