What is ZiiTrend?
Will Safari be more popular than Firefox before 2010?
Homer ( Score Rank: #27 based on predictions in the last 30 days ) Homer  |  closed on 24-Apr-2008 (222 days ago)
Apple recently added the "feature" to push Safari to you when you update iTunes, and Mozilla CEO John Lilly blasted the move, probably in the fear that Safari will gain more browser market share on the Windows platform.

Let's predict if Safari will pick up its momentum in the next few years by 2010. Please note that this is a casual prediction, so we won't verify this.

There's the problem of name recognition. Even with several years publicity, only now are people starting to hear of Firefox. Typical user response: "Firefox, I've heard of it, is it better than IE." "Safari, what's that?"
Safari would have to bring out a show-stopping reason why it's better than Firefox and IE, and as Firefox is opensource, anything they can do, Firefox can do better. :)

Not likely, but it will make Mozilla's life a lot of difficult to have to deal with another browser in the market. Let's hope Safari and Firefox will all gain market share at the same time. Of course, we want to make sure all 3 major browsers will continue to follow the web standard. I am sure most web developers will agree with me.
