Will Rogers or Fido (Canada) lower the price of the 3G iPhone plan in 2008?

Rumor has it that Apple is not too happy with Roger's exorbitant pricing of its data plan:
http://www.iphoneatlas.co...

The current announcement tells us the minimum plan will cost $60 for 150min airtime plus 400MB data transfer.
http://www.appleinsider.c...

Just a reminder that Fido is owned by Rogers, so their plan probably go up and down together. We will keep this prediction casual because it will be hard to verify the result. Even if Rogers decides to lower the price, it will probably make major changes to the plan details.

The question is, will Rogers or Fido lower the price of the 3G iPhone plan in 2008?

After receiving a deluge of calls and e-mails, and watching as more than 50,000 potential customers signed an online petition protesting against the company's iPhone pricing policies, Rogers bowed to mounting pressure and slashed its data fees just two days before Apple Inc.'s coveted touch-screen cellphone arrives in Canada.

If it lowers the price too quick, it may be sued by the existing subscribers. Sigh, I don't expect it to lower the price soon.

Yes, $60 for only 150min is a big rip off. Hopefully, the new 3G iPhone can be unlocked, then Canadians can come and buy the iPhone from the US.

I think Rogers will ride the i-phone fad for a while before people start to really look at the plan and realize how much of a rip-off it is. Then, there will be pressure to lower the price for plans.

Canadians always have to pay more for everything including cell phone plans, gas, house, tax, etc.
