Will MusicPass DRM free mp3 gain popularity over iTune or Amazon MP3 in 2008?

If you think buying DRM free MP3 thru iTune or Amazon is not complicated enough, Sony will introduce yet another way to buy DRM free MP3 thru MusicPass.com on Jan 15. The idea is for you to go to retail stores like Bestbuy or Walmart, and buy a MusicPass (a card with a secret code) for $12.99, and then use this code to download the music from MusicPass.com. I am not going to list the pros and cons of this new method here. Lets hear what you have to say :)

Sony always loves to do things differently. Like their memory stick, MD discs, Blu-ray etc etc.

You kidding me? Buying music in a store and THEN download it? Very counter-intuitive. I am not sold.

Love the idea of buying a MusicPass just like buying a CD. You go to a retail store and get a full album that is DRM free. Works for me. But for most people, the idea of going to a retail store and then go home and download the music is a bit too much work. Not to mention the price difference between and CD and the MusicPass is only 3 bucks.
