Will MS Start Acquire Baidu.com by Q3 2008?
Arthur ( Score Rank: #31 based on predictions in the last 30 days ) Arthur  |  was scored on 03-Jul-2008 (96 days ago)
Now the deal with Yahoo is temporary over. Baidu, the Chinese Google, seems to be the best prey of Microsoft. Comparing Yahoo and Baidu, MS would see least overlapping products and markets with Baidu. The market cap of Baidu is $11.8B on NASDAQ with US$224M revenue in 2007, whereas Yahoo is worth about $35B on NASDAQ with US$6,969M revenue in 2007. In addition, Baidu.com has great potential in the Chinese market rather in the saturated US market. Will the acquisition-hungry Microsoft go after Baidu??

Absolutely no news about any possible acquisition of Baidu by Microsoft. Microsoft is still struggling in the USA online ad market. I think they are more interested in acquiring smaller companies with potential. Baidu is just too bing.

Yes, the Chinese market is definitely more valuable than the US one. And the fail attempt to acquire Yahoo might not be that bad after all.
