Will Maria Sharapova win another grand slam title in 2008?
black-shoulder ( Score Rank: #6 based on predictions in the last 30 days ) black-shoulder  |  was scored on 08-Sep-2008 (85 days ago)
She has cruised to victory at the Australian Open without dropping a set. She combines beauty with a power game that very few can match. She is Anna Kournikova with Steffi Graf's game (well, maybe not... Graf is probably more dominant in her prime), and she's just 20. Can Russia's Maria Sharapova win any of the upcoming grand slam titles in 2008 (French Open, Wimbledon, or the US Open)?

No more grand slams won. Sharapova's right shoulder is becoming an injured area that just won't heal properly.

Since an early exit in Wimbledon, Sharapova has been hurt. She missed both the Olympics and the US Open. Sadly for Sharapova fans, she did not win another more grand slams after the Aussie.

Sharapova withdrew from the uS Open, thus had no way of winning another grand slam in 2008.

Maria Sharapova pulled out of the Sony Ericsson Open on Saturday, citing a shoulder injury. Well .. she is not fully recovered yet.

Steffi Graf is the only female tennis player who has won the "Golden Slam" (win all four grand slam plus the Olympic gold). Sharapova is the only player who has that chance this year (because she won the Aussie Open). I think she can't win the French Open, but if she somehow manages to, I'd LOVE to see her win the golden slam.

She is one of the big reasons why tennis is so enjoyable to watch.

Until Sharapova proves to me that she can win on clay, the French Open is out of the question. I hope her strong performance at the Aussie Open is a sign that she is finally healthy, and that she is finally comfortable in her body now (she was still growing the past few years, and I think that had something to do with her injuries). Her game works well on grass and on hard court, so I think she has a good chance at the Wimbledon and the US Open. Winning one of those two is entirely possible, while winning both is quite probable too...
