Will Lickable Advertisements Become Popular?
ocRabbit ( Score Rank: User did not make predictions in the last 30 days ) ocRabbit  |  closed on 18-Mar-2008 (259 days ago)
Welch's is taking out full-page print ads in People magazine this month that give readers a chance to sample its grape juice by licking the ad. The front of the advertisement shows a huge bottle of the juice, while the back has a strip that peels up and off, with text that reads: "For a TASTY fact, remove & LICK."

Marketers are excited about the prospects for lickable ads, but will readers accept it? any concern about hygiene and food safety?

I think the exact opposite is true. The older generation needs this more than anyone else. LOL.

The Oreo commercial during Superbowl is already a "lick race" between the Manning brothers. Another with a possible sexual connotation sells, like it or not.

perhaps it's good to add a safety seal. if the seal is broken, don't lick.

Depending on what kind of magazine I am reading, it will be embarrassing if people see me licking my magazine.

I don't think it will be a safety concern. You can just think of this as a sample drink, except it is not liquid. As long as the sample is properly sealed, and has enough warnings on the cover, then I will lick it!

What about an ad sample for the next NY Fries hot sauce? That would be interesting.
