chajil ( Score Rank: #87 based on predictions in the last 30 days ) chajil  |  was scored on 07-Nov-2008 (497 days ago)
Iceland secured US$274million from Norway and Denmark yesterday as it sought help to stablise its stricken economy, but talks to secure a far larger loan from Russia continued. Icelandic officials, meanwhile, began talks in Moscow over a US$5.5billion loan to help the country's financial sector. The head of the Icelandic delegation said that there had been no discussion so far on a loan amount from Russia to Iceland, but the group had received an "excellent reception".

Economies and countries around the world seem to be scrambling to keep things together. Witness Kevin Rudd's "Christmas bonus" promises here in Australia. Russia will secure the loan to Iceland - though it won't do much to stop the meltdown.
