Will Facebook connect back to Google's Friend Connect in Q2 2008?

"Facebook isn't feeling very social toward Google (NSDQ: GOOG). The social networking site on Thursday broke up with Google Friend Connect -- the search company's system for adding social features to any Web site. It denied Friend Connect access to Facebook user data for failing to respect its privacy requirements."

I have to say this move by Facebook is very damaging to Google's image in the social networking arena. Do you think Facebook will connect backto Google's Friend Connect app before the end of Q2 2008?

Facebook isn't protecting their users. It is more like they are protecting themselves from Google OpenSocial.

It really depends on how successful OpenSocial is among the developers community. Google has no bargaining power if not enough apps use its API.

So for developers, the question is whether OpenSocial API or Facebook API is better. For now, I will go for Facebook API simply because of its maturity.

No. Facebook probably tries to create a bad image for Google. Friend Connect sits on top of Google's Open Social API and that is directly competing with Facebook. So, I don't see any point for Facebook to let Google have a easy time doing that.
