Take a look the last FB's press release in 2007. It has slightly modified the Beacon.

The user community is Facebook's greatest asset. They might drop the Beacon thing completely.

They probably won't. I am sure they have spent tons of resources in developing the Beacon ads program. Not to mention the effort in setting up partnerships.

Cruel business world... Facebook was receiving so much position attention in the last few months, now it is becoming a target of attack by its competition. And of course its own users as well. I guess Facebook got to be more careful in how to handle the privacy issue in the future.

It pisses me off to hear the word "Beacon". But I would give them a break. I am sure they will make things better.

Facebook will definitely do something because the users are pretty pissed now. And it makes little sense to remove the program completely.
