Will Canon raise the bar and release the next version of 40D (let's call it 50D for now) which supports full frame sensor? Here is the 40D spec:

    No for two reasons:

    1. They want to keep the 40D line and 5D line separate.
    2. They want to keep their new lens format EF-s.

40D is one fancy camera. Only professionals needs to buy another better than that. For professionals, they can go for better models than 40D.

If people want a full frame sensor, just buy a 5D. If 50D is to include full frame, then it will be more expensive. People don't want that.

Canon still needs people to buy 5D. So no full frame sensor for the so-called 50D. I really don't imagine Canon would name it 50D. Too confusing. Nikon also has a 50D model, I suppose.

I think it is referring the 5D model number. It is slightly more powerful than the current Canon 40D.

What about the 5D line? Maybe Canon still wants to keep it?
