goog ( Score Rank: #8 based on predictions in the last 30 days ) goog  |  closed on 16-Jun-2008 (113 days ago)
Rumor has it that RIM is about the release its next gen mobile phone with a large touch screen just like the iPhone. And its code name is Thunder. Here is a mockup of the device:
http://blogs.zdnet.com/Ap...

It is an exact knockoff of the Apple iPhone except the four buttons below the screen. Let's predict if this device will be an iPhone killer in terms of popularity.

So, from what I read online, thunder is real after all. I cannot wait to see more mobile devices with larger screen, smaller price tag, and better connectivity.

And hopefully, this devices don't come with expensive monthly subscription plan.

The iPhone's selling points are entirely different. Most iPhone customers wouldn't even CONSIDER a Blackberry.

I totally agree. They are addressing quite a different market. Maybe this new thunder phone wants to be the Rim's iPhone for business users. Apple's gadgets are less appealing as an enterprise solution due to its focus in entertainment.

Thunder might be a great mobile phone. But iPhone has a huge brand name behind it. So, it is too much to say Thunder will be an iPhone killer.

yes if RIM can sign a better deal with the mobile vendors - that covers larger market at a lower cost.

The mockup doens't look that real to me. It makes me wonder if the product will actually get release. Even if it get released, I don't think it will beat iPhone. iPhone still has time to release more new features before its competitions.
