Netflix customers can now rent as many movies and television shows as they want. The company announced Monday that its 7 million unlimited rental subscribers can stream as many movies and television shows as they want, with no additional charge. The unlimited rental plans start at $8.99 a month. You think Apple will do something similar?

Apple might do it, but hasn't yet. Check out this article which talked about such rumor:

Since Steve Job just announce the new pricing, it won't follow the Netflix pricing strategy for a long long time then.

Yes in the debut of MacBook Air, Steve also mentioned about streaming videos at $2.99 for iPod and $3.99 for HD quality.

According to what I read about MacWorld 2008, it is not happening. If it is not announced there, it is not going to happen in Q1.

Apple just released its rental service plan. For ipod and iphone, it is $3.99 for 30 day period. Looks like Apple isn't going for the all-you-can-stream model:

But we can keep predicting until the end of Q1 just to see.

The Netflix plan sounds really attractive. But how can you make money with only 8.99 a month for unlimited streaming? Anyone got a link to the fine prints? I want to see the details.

The streaming video business model should work if it is subsidized by sponsorship. And Apple will go for it if it wants to continue as the leader in selling digital content.
