Who will win the NLCS between the Philadelphia Phillies and LA Dodgers?
black-shoulder ( Score Rank: #6 based on predictions in the last 30 days ) black-shoulder  |  was scored on 16-Oct-2008 (47 days ago)
It is down to four teams for the NL crown, and we have two very hot teams going head-to-head. The LA Dodgers, led by Manny Ramirez, will go up against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Dodgers swept the favourite Chicago Cubs 3:0 in one of the NLDS, while the Phillies defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 3:1.

Who do you think will win this series to advance to the world series? (Philadelphia has the home-field advantage)

Everyone seems to be jumping off the bandwagon since they lost so harshly in game 1. Now watching Brett Myers pound in two more runs, I get the feeling that they're really in trouble. It could start to get out of hand.

Of course, it's important to remember that, as they say, "the series doesn't start until the home team loses". Perhaps there's some truth to that, but right now it feels like some of the magic and a lot of the momentum has been zapped. I didn't think they necessarily need to win game 2, but nothing good can come of Billingsley getting knocked out within 3 innings. They could have lost a close one and been fine, but losing like this... it's painful. Look out, the floodgates just opened.

Of course, there are lots of vets like Manny and Torre, so they can still make it a series at the least. They'll need a huge regeneration at home though, and can they win 3 straight, with Hamels coming up and Lowe's psyche possibly in question.

The Phillies seem to have been vastly underestimated by many...

No doubt the Phillies are, on paper, a better team. Don't forget that before Man-Ram arrives, Dodgers are but a team barely hovering around .500, and may well not make the playoffs altogether. So there is no doubt that the Phillies are much more talented than the Dodgers. They also have the best bullpen in the NL, something that few people are willing to point out.

I want to see the Dodgers win just because of the act that Man-Ram can pull off, but after 4 games, it seems like the Phillies are more deserving.

Man-Ram is playing lights-out baseball, and his attitude is rubbing off to the young players on the team. They are the underdogs in a series against a team that plays hard (unlike the Cubs, who have just folded under pressure), but if they are anything like Man-Ram, they'd be fearless... I give the Dodgers a slight edge.
