The Cotton Bowl will take place on Jan 2 between No. 25 Mississippi and No. 7 Texas Tech.

Mississippi finished the season 8:4 and Texas Tech finished the season 11:1. Interestingly, the BCS has these two teams ranked No. 25 and 7, but the AP poll has them ranked 20 and 8.

On paper, it may seem like Texas Tech should easily win this match, but Mississippi is the ONLY team that has managed to beat the Florida Gators this year. Texas State has defeated currently No. 2 Texas, but also got hammered by No. 5 Oklahoma to lose its only game of the season.

    Two high powered offenses that are different in their scheme of attack. Ole Miss finished on a strong note and lost its 4 games by a total of 19 points. If they can keep from turning over the ball, the strong defensive line will put the kind of pressure on Graham Harrell that he only saw in the Oklahoma game and in the end will give the Rebels the edge in a close game.

    The Red Raiders lost its momentum when it got hammered by Oklahoma, and barely managed to win its last game... still... I think Texas Tech is still a little bent that they are playing on a "lower" bowl game than other 11:1 teams, so they'd be quite motivated for this one.
