When would Kim Jong Il step down as North Korea's leader?

US Intelligence is reporting that Kim Jong Il, the reclusive leader of North Korea, may not have the health to lead his nation anymore. The secretive leader, who has a reputation of throwing large rallies to give himself credit, did not appear in a massive parade for his 60th birthday. The intelligence report suggests that he has suffered a "setback in his health, possibly a stroke."

Kim's absence is causing many to speculate about his health. Some are suggesting that he may have to step down from his position. Some, however, argue that he will remain in power until he dies.

Do you think Kim will step down any time in the upcoming months? If so, when?

Only thing that would make him step down is death.

Even December 2008 is way too soon. He will likely stay in power until he dies or is too ill to lead.

In a state such as North Korea, "stepping down" is probably a very improbable preposition for a political figure. Unless Kim Jong Il dies, I don't think he will step away from the political center stage. I know he is rumoured to be in poor health, but even if he does die and a new leader emerges, it is not considered "stepping down."

Heard that he has suffered a stroke, but who can be the next one?
