The leader of Canada's largest opposition party on Wednesday declined to say whether he would try to defeat the minority Conservative government over its budget, expected in late February or early March. Obviously the current PM, Harper, is waiting a good time to call for election, and attempts to gain a majority gov. He may call for the next Federal Election anytime upon his need.

    Winter is never a good time for election... and the politicians have a summer vacation too... I think if it doesn't happen in September, it will not happen in 2008.

    The Liberals kept the Conservatives in power on several confidence votes last year on the grounds that Canadians did not want another election so soon after the January 2006 federal vote. The voters' emotion will probably stay the same as the economy is strong.
