What will happen to the Vancouver Canucks this off-season?
black-shoulder ( Score Rank: #3 based on predictions in the last 30 days ) black-shoulder  |  was scored on 05-Sep-2008 (2 days ago)
Now that the 2007 - 2008 hockey season for the Vancouver Canucks is over, speculation quickly begins as to what will happen next? For missing the playoffs, someone probably will have to "pay the price" - but who will, and how will he/they pay that price?

answered: [ * ] GM Dave Nonis will be fired

Of all these answers here, GM Dave Nonis' firing definitely happened. There were no deals made that involve more than 5 players... Sadly, no significant free agent signing either...

Can I expect another lose for Canucks this year?

    predicted: [ Most Likely ] [ 35% ] Nonis & Vigneault both fired
    (more)
Now that Nonis is fired, coach Vigneault will probably be gone as well, if not this season, then certainly after another year. In most cases, a new GM would like to bring in his own staff. Just as Nonis fired Marc Crawford when he took over from Brian Burke, the new GM will probably fire Alain Vigneault too.

With Nonis gone, anything is possible now...

Not blockbuster deal, but lots of signing and multiple small trades.

    surely NOT:

GM Dave Nonis will be fired
Roberto Luongo will be traded - unless you want lose more games next year.
Coach Vigneault will be fired - he may deserve but not the time yet
Status quo/other (pls state) - better do something for heart-broken fans !!

Sedins are great asset to the team. No way they will get traded. Yeah, sure, fire Dave Nonis.

If the Canucks choose to let Naslund and Morrison go (I think Naslund is definitely gone; Morrison may still be kept because the Canucks are so thin down the middle), they will have 9 millions plus in cap room, good enough for Dave Nonis to make a big trade or to sign a big-time free agent. I think they will package some of the younger players (Bourdon, Hansen, Coulombe, etc) to acquire a scorer, and would probably sign some free agents to boost their offence. One thing I know: as long as Vigneault is around, Linden won't be back.
