Twitter: Acquired in Q3 2008?
Snowman ( Score Rank: #280 based on predictions in the last 30 days ) Snowman  |  was scored on 02-Oct-2008 (9 days ago)
Twitter is one of the fastest growing startup to gain popularity in a short time. Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send updates (otherwise known as tweets) which are text-based posts, ranging up to 140 characters long.

In late April 2008, some sources reported that due to downtime related to scaling problems, Twitter would abandon Ruby on Rails as their web framework and start from scratch with PHP or Java.

The web app is strangely addictive for all ages. Will it be acquired soon?

I think it's a fad that will fade soon. Like most new toys, it's cool while new, then gets abandoned. More importantly, I think that most of the people with the necessary cash on hand would think the same, and would watch it for a while longer before any acquisitions are made.

However (that's why I predicted 40:60) it might be that its founders also realize they are sitting on a "hip for now" product, and would seek to sell it, even cheaply, to some sucker.

You probably get this right. I haven't even got the time and energy to try Twitter although I know how it works. Probably because I don't think it offers any good value to me.

On the Internet, if you can build traffic on a web site, then you can put a price tag on it. So, as long as Twitter can still maintain its traffic, then I guess it will still worth something.

Maybe Microsoft has too much cash and decide to buy?
