Toronto Considering Ban on Paper Cups in 2008?
Arthur ( Score Rank: #23 based on predictions in the last 30 days ) Arthur  |  will close on 01-Jan-2009 (39 days from now)
The City of Toronto is considering everything from a tax to an outright ban on objects like paper coffee cups, fast-food containers and plastic bags that clog the recycling system. By 2010, Toronto wants to send only 30 per cent of its garbage to landfill sites.

What will Toronto decide to do in 2008?

I call McDonald's one of three evil empires (Microsoft and Walmart the other two) and being an evil empire usually means you get your own way. We all know that McDonald's is a HUGE sponsor at the Olympics. That being said, if McDonald's executives cough, Toronto and the IOC will totally cave.

Canadian like to put higher tax on everything. That's a win win solution. It satisfy both the environmentalists and politicians at the same time.

I suppose the consumers might be on the losing side because of the higher cost of eating out.

With only a few months left in the year, I don't think anything will be done in time.
