    The Google Knol concept is closer to About.com than Wikipedia. If Google plays this fairly, I don't see how it can get more popular.

    google can make things better, but the original idea was from wikipedia, they will continue famous :-)

    Google is just trying to complete the online experience by offering an online encyclopedia. It will not be as successful as wikipedia. Simply because Google won't go for the wiki way but instead having users publishing articles just like in About.com. (if I read Google's official blog correctly).

    I think Wikipedia is great simply because it is non-profit and good community service. It won't get killed so easily.
