Today a news caught my eyes - Obesity in China Doubled in 11 Years With Rising Prosperity (http://www.bloomberg.com/...). The number of obese and overweight people in China, now at 325 million, could double in 20 years, spurring more diabetes and heart disease in what was once one of the world's leanest populations.

According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/w...), our obesity level of North American is getting worse as well. Obesity in the United States has been increasingly cited as a major health issue in recent decades. While many industrialized countries have experienced similar increases, American obesity rates are the highest in the world with 64% of adults being overweight or obese, and almost a quarter being obese. Estimates of the number of obese American adults have been rising steadily, from 19.4% in 1997, 24.5% in 2004 to 26.6% in 2007.

As medical cost increases, people will have to take care of their health. I can see a gradual reduction of obese population at least in the United States. In Canada, this issue is never too serious.

With the ongoing global food shortage, we might be able to solve the obesity problem. All the all-you-can-eat places will shut down due to high cost of food.
