BRICs are terms used in economics to refer to the combination of Brazil, Russia, India, and China. It is believed that the economies of the BRICs are rapidly developing and by the year 2050 will eclipse most of the current richest countries of the world. In addition, new markets, such as Eastern Europe, Korea, and Middle East may have more golden opportunities than in Europe and North America.

It has been a trend for English-speakers to learn new languages. Do you want to master a new language to help you reach the new world? What language will you like to learn?

imo, learning a new language is not enough for us to live / work there. knowing and adapting to the work culture is much more important. for example, in many asian countries, workers have extended working hours with no family life. can you bear with that?

back to this question, i would like to learn Chinese (Mandarin) and Hindu (not on the list). the Chinese and Hindu speakers will make up >60% of world population very soon.

I actually have downloaded two series worth of free Korean lessons from RTHK in Hong Kong a couple years ago to learn Korean, and have downloaded the free textbooks they have given online as well... but I just have not had the time to do so. But that would be the first language I'd like to learn on top of the ones I know right now (Chinese and English... I don't count myself as knowing French anymore).

Spanish and Arabic are both useful languages to know if you want to travel, but they are not a high priority thing for me.

I actually want to learn Korean. I like watching their drama (with English captions) and believe their culture would greatly influence the entire Asia in the next decade.
