In an attempt to enter the market of the "sexy" smart phones, Research in Motion (RIM) is about to release its first ever flip phone, the Blackberry Pearl Flip smartphone, or the Flip 8220.
According to RIM, the Flip 8220 offers up "an abundance of powerful features," such as an industry-leading mobile messaging solution and a wide variety of Internet and multimedia capabilities. It also delivers two high-res, light-sensing colour screens, with its larger internal LCD display (240x320) centring on videos, Web pages and messages, while the smaller external screen is perfect for previewing calls, texts, and inbound e-mails. The biggest drawback of the phone is that it does not run on 3G. And, if you ask me, it does not look anywhere as "hip" as that of an i-phone. Still, considering that Blackberry is the icon in phones with e-mailing capacity, the flip 8220 may still be a big hit. How many Flip 8220 will be sold in 2008?
