Google acquires Digg before end of Aug 2008

According to reports by TechCrunch and numerous other reports based on that, Digg is currently in negotiation with Google to be acquired in the $200 million range. Whether this report is accurate or not, it makes a lot of sense for Google to acquire Digg because of its user traffic and brand name.

Do you think Google will actually acquire Digg before the end of August 2008? As long as there is anything official announcement from Google or Digg of a confirmed acquisition, we will consider the answer as "yes".

    I disagree with iana. If Digg users dislike Microsoft so much, they would have left Digg already because of the current ad deal with Microsoft. I say Microsoft has as good a chance to acquire Digg as Google. The question is whether Digg will get acquired at all next month.

    It is about time Digg gets acquired. It is a great company. But it is a bit slow in expanding itself. And it probably fits better with Google in the long run. And $200mil looks like a good number. The reason I think Digg has a higher chance to go independent is because this rumor is mainly from one single source. Until there is more information...

    Digg still has an ad deal with Microsoft. And I am sure they want to count Microsoft in the bidding game. So, it is still possible that Digg get acquired by Microsoft instead.
