Most of us go it right. Digg was not acquired in Q1 2008.

    http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/03/07/...

User-generated news site Digg has been working with influential investment bank Allen & Co. (the ones that recently got Slide a half billion dollar valuation) for a few months now, and pitching big tech and media companies on a sale. Digg is prepared to take less than the $300 million Allen & Co. were floating late last year. Google, our source says, will likely bid $200-$225 million, which Digg would likely accept.

Quite funny to see how the Diggers react on the news: http://digg.com/tech_news/Google_Micr...

They tend to stay the way now, or being bought out by Google.

It's a lot of fun reading all the replies from Digg users. I am okay with Digg being acquired.

But the community cannot stop an acquisition right? Of course Digg will take that into consideration when another big company approaches them.

I love the Digg concept, but I get information overload ever time I visit it. Not sure if the Digg way will become mainstream.

More sites are using the digg concept now including mainstream media site like YouTube. I am sure the digg up/down method will get really popular soon. And Digg is the pioneer in this. Eventually, it will be accepted by most.

I have to agree. A community with a strong culture can be a double edge sword.

I think it is still hard for general users to get into the Digg culture. Makes me wonder if big players like Google or Microsoft is even interested in buying.
