Statistics Canada has just published a report saying that fewer kids are participating in organized sports. In 1992, 57% of Canadian children are participating in some type(s) of organized sports by playing on community teams or other higher-profile sports teams. The numbers have dropped to 51% in 2005.
Some of you may know that the resources needed to put a child through sports is sky-rocketing. In addition to equipment costs, parents also have to pay for travel expenses, registration fees, facility rental fees, not to mention the time and energy your typical "hockey mom" and "baseball dad" have to put in. The Canadian government has introduced a $500 tax credit for parents registering kids in organized sports in 2007. While this bill looks to make it easier for kids to participate, some argue that it does not catch up with the inflating costs. What do you think will happen to the children participation rate in sports in 2008?

"Canadian children participating in organized CRIME"
then, I will say yes.
I think it will get worse before it gets better.
