Best Buy vs. Apple in Music Download
oWell ( Score Rank: #371 based on predictions in the last 30 days ) oWell  |  will close on 01-Apr-2009 (131 days from now)
Best Buy is buying Napster, the second-place music subscription service, which has been losing money and subscribers. The deal is almost a rounding error for a company of Best Buy's size. The stated price is $121 million. But since Napster has $67 million in cash, the effective cost to Best Buy is $54 million. Best Buy has long been interested in finding ways to sell services as well as products. It has offered a co-branded version of the Rhapsody, the leading music subscription service offered by Real Networks.

Will Best Buy or Apple have larger market share in music download?

I agree with black-shoulder, if Best Buy does catch up to Apple it definately won't be in 2008.

I think i-tunes has established themselves in such a way that no service provider can catch up to them any time soon.
