A routine Greyhound bus trip across the Canadian prairies descended into horror on July 30 when a passenger attacked another with a knife, killed and decapitated him. The brutal murder of a Greyhound bus passenger is raising questions about the bus line's security practices.
The union, representing Greyhound bus drivers, is calling for airport-style security measures to be implemented for bus travelers to prevent them from bringing weapons aboard. "Because of the nature of the industry, which is servicing a lot of small towns, with pickups right along the side of the highway, we're not dealing with the same kind of a controlled environment like an airport," said David Carroll, the director of safety and maintenance with Motor Coach Canada. What security measure will be taken on Greyhound?
