    USA has lost some of its dominance in track and field. No USA athlete won a gold in the 100m race, and both the men and women's team have failed to advance to the 4x100m final because of dropped batons. I think USA will still rake in more gold medals, but not too many more events to go, I think it will be a stretch to go beyond 45.

    Jamaica came out very strong this year in track and field. That caught USA by surprise. And that will lower the expected medal count a little.
