ace111 ( Score Rank: User did not make predictions in the last 30 days ) ace111  |  will close on 01-Jul-2009 (172 days from now)
As this topic was created (in Sep 2008), we can buy 32GB USB Flash on the shelf. SanDisk was selling 16GB version of SanDisk Extreme III 30MB/s Edition.

When may we buy 128GB USB Flash?

Maybe 2010? 128GB. That's good enough for a few HD movies.

It entirely depends on the popularity of HD video recordings. Now a bluray disc has 25 GB (single layer) capacity which is already enough to cover all the main and bonus tracks of Spider Man. Do you think a normal user would take a daily HD shot longer than a Spider Man movie? Perhaps yes .. but not in the coming year.

I know retail stores are phasing out the 1GB and 2GB flash drives these days, but even something like an 8GB drive is still costing quite a bit, and the 16GB drives are costing a fortune. I don't see a 128GB coming out too soon - even if the technology is there, I think companies will try to milk the cow for a bit first.

Oh. If it happens that the 128GB version is skipped (say a 256GB version is pushed instead), we consider the situation as releasing 128GB version as well. Hope that makes it clear.
